A Study on Work-Life Balance in Higher Educational Institutions

Abstract: The success of an educational institution is determined by the pass percentage of the students and the placement record of the institution. Thus, in order to give a bright future to the students and the institution, the teachers play an important role. Teaching faculty can bestow their full potential and efficiency for the development of their pupils, while they derive high level of job satisfaction. Job satisfaction, in turn depends on an efficient way of managing their work and family commitments. So, this study is about identifying the factors influencing work and life balance and to find the ways in which the teaching faculty balance their work and life. The results of the study exhibit the age, the number of elders in their family, number of working hours, number of years of experience, government policies and psychological pressure. However, the results of the study disclose that teachers, if trained with emotion management, time management and work management skills they can be highly productive, balance work and life. The findings of the study will be helpful for the higher educational institutions to bring out methods that would not only attract and retain the employees for long period but also make them highly productive.
